Ten Most Outrageous Kanye West Moments

Is Kanye West a good musician? Is the controversy that he seems to consistently put himself into an attempt to create consistent buzz around his name, or is he really just a wacky, far out dude? Does anyone outside of Kim Kardashian and his manager actually like him?

These are not questions for me to answer. All I know is that we can all agree on one thing…the dude is totally ridiculous! From interrupting Taylor Swift’s VMA Speech to naming his own baby “North” to professing on his most recent album “I Am a God,” Kanye West seemingly loves to entertain the general public with the most outrageous commentary and stunts the media has to offer.

So we take a look here at his top ten most outrageous, hilarious, tear-inducing, “oh-my-god-did-he-actually-do-that” cringing moments of all time.

10. Publicly Stated that George W. Bush Is Racist

After the tragic hurricane Katrina incident, tens of thousands of people in the New Orleans area were left stranded, desperately seeking government assistance to provide food, transportation, and shelter out of a city destroyed by one of the most devastating torrential storms in United States history.

Kanye West clearly felt that George Bush was not handling this situation appropriately during the crisis, and he even went so far to say that George W. Bush “hates black people.”

Ouch, Kanye! Take a look at the video above if you need to see it yourself.

9. He Wrote a Song Called “New Slaves”

Kanye West’s Album Yeezus

On his highly praised yet highly controversial 2013 album “Yeezus,” Kanye West wrote a number of very divisive songs. Among them, the most standout was New Slaves, a song in which Kanye makes claims about how the American government is creating a new generation of slaves, comments on how his mother wasn’t served clean water growing up due to the color of her skin, and other rants that border a strangely thin line between groundbreaking poetry and incoherent cursing.

Needless to say, I didn’t hear too many of Kanye’s songs on mainstream radio from that album.

8. He Named His Baby Something Both Clever and Ridiculous

Everyone now knows of the recent wedding between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian – together, they have a child that has the most unlikely, incredible name.

Yeap, you probably already know it, but it is worth mentioning again. “North.” Get it right?…North…West…

I would say poor child, but in reality, he is the son of the two most glamorous, famous people in all of Hollywood – I think he will probably not have a difficult time getting any of his needs met growing up.

7. He Compared Himself to Public Service Officials

Just six months ago in December of 2013, Kanye West compared the trajectory of his career to that of public service officials, stating in a late-night radio interview “this is like being a police officer or something, in a war or something.”

The outrage of him likening himself as a soldier or a police officer, men who put their lives on the line for the betterment of the country, was clearly expected. Kanye never apologized for his comments, however, comparisons like these are expected of him; he has also likened himself to God on multiple occasions, and even posed as a famous religious leader, which we’ll talk about soon.

6. He Possibly Said Some Outright Anti-Semitic Stuff

In 2013, Kanye West made a claim many interpreted to be anti-semitic in nature, stating that “Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people…We ain’t Jewish. We don’t got family that got money like that.”

Considering the vast wealth Kanye has achieved, it doesn’t seem that his experience is in line with those of his commentary. Still Kanye was able to be big enough to recognize that his own remarks were taken a little too far this time, and he later apologized for it on a Chicago radio station, stating he didn’t realize that his comments came across as Anti-Semitic at the time of issue.
